A Nighthawk homeowner has reported suspicious activity this Friday morning. Around 6:15 am, a male was seen peering into the windows of this home. The police were called and a report filed. Let’s keep a lookout for suspicious activity or persons and inform the police. It is important to keep our neighborhood safe!

Halloween in Blue Stem Ridge

The City of Moore will observe Halloween on October 31st for neighborhood trick or treating! The usual practice is to turn your porch lights on if you are participating and have treats for the children. Slow down and drive safely and watch for little ghosts and goblins!

Big Trash Changes

Beginning March 1st, the city of Moore has announced:

• Call 793-5070 to schedule a Big Trash Pick Up. You will be given a date when your Big Trash will be picked up but do NOT place items outside BEFORE your date has been scheduled. This may result in code enforcement violation, fines and delayed service.

• Moore residents will be allowed 2 FREE Big Trash Pick-Ups a year; per residence/address. Each residence is allowed one FREE voucher to the City landfill, for purposes of hauling items on your own.

Call Public Works, M-F, 8 am -5 pm, at 793-5070.

Christmas in Blue Stem Ridge

Most of us want to live in peace and harmony in Blue Stem Ridge and do not want to offend our neighbors. America is generally a land of tolerance for a variety of differences and beliefs. It is therefore puzzling and disturbing to see the attack on Christianity as it celebrates the birth of Christ at this time of the year. While I will defend your right to not celebrate the birth of Jesus, or to celebrate Hanukkah, or simply celebrate a commercial holiday, I would hope that you would likewise respect my right to celebrate Christian beliefs.

Saving Your Blue Stem Ridge Landscaping

Hello Neighbors,
With the very high temperatures we’ve been experiencing, it takes a little planning to make sure your Blue Stem plantings and lawn will survive when you are away for a week or more on vacation. See this article by Red Dirt Gardening for survival tips.

Hopefully the Board of Directors are watching the entrances’ sprinkler system closely as quite a few of our plantings and trees are showing great stress due to a lack of water. Today’s rain may have helped temporarily but the heat wave will evaporate the moisture before long. Be a good neighbor and keep a watch.

Kindergarten Plans for New Moore Elementary School

A new elementary school is being built nearby at Santa Fe and 34th St. Presently, there are no plans for an all day kindergarten class. If this effects you and your family, you might want to speak your opinion to local school officials.

Blue Stem Ridge Holiday Decorations

Neighbors,
I just wanted to let everyone know that we plan on having holiday decorations/ lights installed on both entrances. We are purchasing the lights and wreaths and we would like to consider adding more to our display in the following years. I want to thank Mrs. Sherri Gutteridge (I hope I spelled that correctly)for her help with the holiday decor and also for hosting such a wonderful Halloween event! Hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday season!

Blue Stem Ridge Arboretum

It”s been great to see more progress happening on the Arboretum that adjoins Blue Stem Ridge. We have seen workers this week building sidewalks and walking trails amongst the trees. This is going to be a great area for families and individuals to enjoy the beauty of nature as well as getting exercise.
